Children's Books"

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can't, and life can't. The angels can't, and the demons can't. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away. Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39 NLT).

Wednesday of this week I was able to baby-sit my grandchildren. I must confess that I really look forward to that kind of time with them. They are so wonderful in such unique ways. Faith is learning to talk now and she has learned several new words. Some of them are not particularly desirable, but still a part of the process of growing up. She has learned how to say “no.” Of course, she has also learned how to exaggerate the pronunciation of it too. It comes out more like “noooooooo.” Logan is less verbal that his sister, but in his quiet way he is learning a tremendous amount of information. He knows the entire alphabet!

Both of them love to be read to, and of course, I love to do just that! Faith likes to sit in my lap and let me turn the pages. Logan, on the other hand, is more in control. He will get a book, sit down, and begin turning the pages. When I don’t have the book memorized and miss the exact wording of the story, he will look at me as if to say, “What’s wrong with you? Can’t you read?” What a great lesson!

In today’s reading, Paul declares that God will not allow ANYTHING to separate us from his love. I think we need to be reminded of that in this day of trial and difficulty. With so much tragedy occurring in our world, we need to remember that this is not the end of it all. Floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, pandemics… none of these or anything else can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. There is someone who FOREVER loves us, no matter what. He will NEVER leave us, NEVER not love us. Never. Ever. He is the Lord of Lords, and His name is Jesus.

I think God might be looking at us and asking us, “What’s wrong with you? Can’t you read?” That is the good news of the gift he has secured for us through his grace.
