"Don't be troubled. You trust God, now trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father's home, and I am going to prepare a place for you. If this were not so, I would tell you plainly. When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know where I am going and how to get there." "No, we don't know, Lord," Thomas said. "We haven't any idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?" Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. (John 14:1-6 NLT).
I can think of no greater Scripture to end this series on God’s promises, than that Christ is coming back again! Praise God, it will be worth it all in the end.
Recently a lady wrote me detailing some of her challenges. She was requesting prayer. She had many different trials in her life. She was not a believer. She had been browsing the Internet in search of some help and stumbled on one of the Morning Devotionals. Much of what she is struggling with may be the result of sin in her life and in the lives of those around her. Her pain was so deep I could almost literally see the tears flowing through the email. I don’t know what prompted her to write on that particular day. Perhaps she had finally gotten to the point of desperation when she felt she was willing to try anything. Whatever it was, she was at the point of considering taking her own life. I wrote to her, trying to help her make sense of her situation, and to lean on God for the answers. I have since heard several times from her. She has gone to a professional counselor beginning her treatment and she has placed her faith in Christ. In her words, her whole life has changed!
Indeed it has. What keeps us all from just “checking out” of this world? What allows us to go on, even when we are so tired, so overwhelmed, so perplexed with our trials? I don’t know what works for you, but knowing that my Redeemer will one day return to take me home usually lifts my spirit. When I think that it will all be over someday, that Victory belongs to God and His children, and that I will spend eternity in Heaven, where there will be no more pain, no more suffering and no more heartache, and that my God is working all things for good, I can face tomorrow! Because He lives, and because He is coming again, my life has purpose!
As Jesus works on my house in heaven, God is preparing to send Him to get His people. “What a day that will be, when my Jesus I will see, when He takes me by the hand, and leads me to the Promise Land! What a day, glorious day, that will be!” I am thankful for all of God’s promises! This one gives me so much hope that I am able to continue in life. How about you? Do you know Christ as Savior? Are you ready?
